“A user interface is like a joke. If you have to explain it, it’s not that good”
Who am I?
I thought my domain name already answered this… Welcome to the portfolio website of Tianyu Wang, a UX/UI designer / (self-taught) iOS developer living in Chicago.
I initially went into college wanting to become a concept artist or 3D artist for video games, but my career has continually led me down new paths and exploring a wide variety of styles, especially the iOS world. I practice user centered design principles basing design decisions on user needs and business goals. I also love the logic of programming and always enjoy to work on a project as designer and developer. I taught myself C, Objective-C and Swift to have a better understanding for both design and coding. I’m working towards becoming a MEGA-Evolved designer.
3 things I bring with me all the time: keys, wallet, and phone. Using iOS, Android or Windows Phone, I’ll take complex problems and turn them into simple and beautiful interface designs.
Guiding the eye with position, color and clarity. A great web design must have good user experience and support all the functionality. I’ll consider both details and usability along the way.
A prototype is worth a thousand meetings. I create prototypes to solve conflicting ideas, evaluate designs, start conversations, and manage the building process.
Adding another dimension of depth. Using 3ds Max, Zbrush and Vray to create 3D characters and environments. Imperative for interior and 3D printer projects.
Did I tell you that I can draw dragon? Presenting a visual representation of a design, idea and mood for video games or movies.
Programming is like a puzzle, and every puzzle has solution. I can develop from my visual concept to a fully functional website or iOS app.
